After watching this 'Shop my Stash' video by Lily Pebbles I was inspired to go through my beauty cupboard to uncover hidden gems and rediscover old favourites. Hopefully this will inspire a few of you to do the same, then all of our wallets can breathe a sigh of relief.
First up is my Too Faced 'Spice Spice Baby' La Creme Lip Cream which I call my cannoli lipstick because to me it smells exactly like an Italian cannoli, is that weird? Aside from the delicious scent, this has been my go-to lipstick lately. A medium pink with a subtle hint of brown undertones, this is a brilliant MLBB (my lips but better) shade which makes it so easy to wear. No lip liner or balm needed, the super creamy formula means I can apply this straight from the bullet and I'm good to go. Honestly I think the formula of these Too Faced lipsticks puts the MAC lipstick formulas to shame, they're just so creamy and easy to work with.
MAC's 'Painterly' Paint Pot has become a new staple in my eye makeup arsenal; the shade is a light beige which is fairly similar to my natural skin tone so I've been using this on the lids as a nice neutral base before applying shadow. I notice when I use this that my eyeshadows 'pop' a little more and just generally seem more visible, which I love. Pre-warning though, these paint pots dry up rather quickly so I don't know how much longer I can use this before it starts to feel like I'm applying cement to my eyelids...
How did I manage to neglect my trusty Nars 'Laguna' Bronzer? Obviously this is meant to be used as a bronzer but for me the shade is perfect for some light contouring. A few sweeps under the cheekbones with a tapered brush and my face is looking much more defined and chiseled (the troubles of an oval shaped head). In the pan Laguna can look glittery and like it'll be shimmer city on your face, but because I use such a light hand I never get any glitter transfer which is great.
I've also rediscovered my Korres Lip Butters for days when I'm going for the au naturale look, AKA when I don't want dry lips but I do want a hint of colour. I use the stick version of this balm which is harder to track down than the pots but far more convenient in my opinion. The Pink shade (it's literally just called 'Pink') with SPF is great for a slight wash of rose on the lips and I've been loving the clear 'Mandarin' shade with no SPF for night time. Why they named their clear shade Mandarin? I'll never know. I'm not a fan of sticky lip balms and I can safely say these feel great on the lips.
